Scope of work
With reference to the Service duties at Sarir area for natural gas supply to Sarir power plant through a 20” pipeline of Entissar/Sarir. There are two GMRS that are functioned to ensure that the natural gas is being treated in terms of parameters and specifications to essentially suit the operational demands of Sarir Power Units 3x250MW. The whole gas system including the main pipeline and both GMRS stations have not been started up since the project execution due to the current circumstance in the region which made it impossible to supply national gas through this pipeline. Hence, during that period of time, and to supply Sarir power units with a source of fuel, it was compulsory to continue using diesel which was carried from long distance and with relatively high cost. Therefore, in November 2020 the Global Electricity Services Company–GESCO has taken the burden whether technically, logistically & financially to achieve certain experiments and tests and to finally start up the gas system for the first time since it was installed to standby and support the General Electricity Company. GECOL and yet because GESCO realizes how much serious and sensitive this such process can be. Fortunately, the gas system now with its components (Main Pipeline, GMRS-JLGAS, GMRS-GECOL) is being run and supervised by GESCO continuously around the clock and under safe and high-quality procedures to guarantee a continuous flow of natural gas to the power units. For such purpose, GESCO has put high efforts and taken dedicated arrangements by involving highly trained staff and provide and supply all compulsory equipment and tools on the behalf of the GMRS. Since the start period of the gas pipeline, the whole gas system has never experienced any damages nor accidents because GESCO is still carrying the maintenance and repair duties of the GMRS to avoid any failures that could lead to stop the flow process of natural gas.
