Our field of experience has included provisions of supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Power Plants (Gas and Steam) EPC and Overhauling Projects.

The main core of GESCO’s business is about the construction, operation, rehabilitation, and maintenance of power plants.

GESCO has constructed three large power plant projects in Libya, the Zwitina Power Plant, Sarir Power Plant, and Obari Power Plant, which have significantly boosted Libya’s electricity generation capacity.

  • Strategic Projects

    Zweitina Power Plant

    570 MW

    The Zueitina station is located northeast of the city of Ajdabiya. The Zueitina gas station is considered the second in terms of size and capacity in the eastern region of Libya, with a production capacity of 570 megawatts, consisting of six steam units. The primary fuel for the station is natural gas, with diesel oil serving as a backup.
    The station was established in 1994, with four steam units, each with a capacity of 50 megawatts, from ALSTOM-ABB Company.
    The station was expanded in the year 2009, where two units of (Siemens Model SGT5-PAC4000F) with a capacity of 250 megawatts for each unit to support the needs of the public electricity network, in addition to the construction of several administrative and service buildings to provide services to the station and its employees.

    Al-Sarir Power Plant

    855 MW

    The project began in 2008 when three (SGT5- 4000F) gas units were installed.

    In 2010, the project was fitted and the units were connected to the General Electric network.

  • Strategic Projects

    Obari Power Plant

    640 MW

    The project aims to produce the necessary electricity to meet the needs of the southern region of electricity, support the public electricity grid and create jobs for 500-700 employees.

    where the project was launched in 2013 with a production capacity of 640 MW power plant with a total capacity of 640 MW and to be operated by crude oil as the main fuel & LFO.

    It consists of four 160 MW Siemens SGT5-PAC 2000 E combustion turbine generators with auxiliaries and the required balance-of-plant systems.

    GESCO

    The Global Electricity Services Company was established in 2001 with the aim of meeting the growing need in the energy sector, as the company’s scope of work includes the construction and maintenance of stations, water station analysis, and oil and gas projects.
